I got mine 2nd or 3rd hand, no idea when or if they are true fumio head's, that is what I was told from people that would know. If they are that is kinda neet to have some old school knowlege making really good power now. EVERYONE that look's at them get big eye's and say WOW. (for stock head's)

I was at Dumont a few years ago with a buddy from Concord and the Escarabajo group... there were two rails like that that we were playing follow the leader with, carving over ridges. If I remember, it was an older guy and his son-in-law that had them, waaaaay old school and loads of fun.

I have a lot of favorite sand cars. I'm kind of partial to my old blown alcohol VW. I ran it in the late 80's, early 90's.

FIRST PRIORITY RACING

« Reply #23 on: March 01, 2011, 06:59:31 PM »

I remember an old guy in the winter of 67-68 "Ralph Pipkin" owner of "Pipkin trucking " based out of El Centro racing an all aluminum custom one off jeep body out at Glamis. For the late 60's that was cutting edge with deep pockets. Ralph must of passed by now but his company still exist.

Back in the 80's it was Blue Thunder who ruled Glamis.

This weekend Feb 18,19,20 jeep club is holding their 40th anniversary flat sand drags, and hill clime drags,a lot of old SKOOL water pumpers and jeep and some hair dryers also. Like to see some long travel,LS or SUBI's get in the mix     Blue Thunder was the car to beat, all aluminium frame, block, heads, twin turbos, two speed. I think Whity ran sub 3:00s in the 100 yard sand drags
