We had a blast out at the sand drags this weekend, the first pass it went a tad lean the injector screens were dirty from sitting on the shelf a year & a half 2300 deg egt went 3.19 at 83 luckily it didn't $hit the bed, second pass it left hard started to wheelie & it keep-ed rising I thought it was tire growth at first but at the last moment it made a big move towards the sky so I had to lift went a 3.15. We built a new wheelie bar out of the push bar from the pro/mod car & one awning strut from the trailer trying to make the last qualifier but a jeep crashed & Art Cronin came over and said they canceled the final round of qualifying. So me,the old & Phil switched into cocktail & fab mode (push bar & awning strut & 1 manton push rod) it was tacked & ready to weld up. Sunday morning I finished welding it up with sunglasses on because the welding helmet ran out of talent :blindfold:. First round we went 2.91 @ 101 & left first I put it in high gear too Early it fell on its face, it was close but we lost so now we need to lower the gear WAY more & it will work OK.

Here is a video of  all of the cars & maybe Art will post the one he got.

It was cool to see all of the sand group again & we'll be at Saboba April

The video doesn't do that wheelie justice. That car left the line harder than I have seen in a long time from a 4 cylinder then broke the wheelie bar right off the car. It looked like a shuttle launch going to the moon. It was awesome in person and it was great to see the VW Paradise car in the sand. The automatic transmission was the talk of the event. Thanks for the great show.

I think a high five is also in order for the teams of Brian Chapman (event winner) and the Cronin Gang's "Meltdown" car (SandTimes mag) both these cars flirted with the 2.7 second barrier all weekend... only .02-.03 away consistantly, also the Sidewinder car now driven by 18yr old Aaron Mamer rolled into the 2.80s to move closer to matching his dad's typical level of performance. Kudos to all of you, little more than half a tenth away from D.L King's record performance.
