68 Beetle rebuild/disc brake conversion

Got myself a new project in the garage. Found a 68 bug sitting in a driveway sad and lonely Asked the owner about it and he asked me if I wanted to buy it. "But of course I do". So now its in my garage, front end torn apart. Gonna convert front brake to disc and replace tie rod and ball joint ends. Driver floor pan is shot and looks like heater channel on same side is pretty rusted out too. She aint real pretty, but fired right up after I put in a new battery. Drove around our little town but couldnt stop real well.

Anyway, has anyone converted to disc brakes and should I replace or rebuild master cylinder? I figured while it apart just put in a new one.

A million other questions, but that is my first issue I am tackling.

Having difficulty posting pics..

EMPI has some nice conversion kits and work very well!!!!

It depends on how much you want to spend !!! You can go all the way up to super speedway kits if you desire LOL

I was told that a new master cylinder was mandatory because of needed increase of pressure.

If you go to a larger diameter MC will give a better mechanical advantage and keep your pedal pressures down......

You can call the guys at CarCraft in Riverside CA to help you -- they have a ton of experience doing this stuff............
