The Hector project

I wasn't sure which forum to add this to, being that it is a model and also a race car project. Well it is going in the collectable forum.

I have been assembling the models for this project for a couple months now and thought this would be a good day to show it's start. Right now it is just two bare plastic models, with nothing done to them yet. I am going to attempt to recreate Hectors entire race rig. I know it is not going to be exact, but I am going to do the best job that I can. I am still looking for a 1/24 scale Chev double cab dually, to complete the set up.

Re: The Hector project

NICE Going Rich! Not to many people have models of their race cars, let alone the entire rig.

I am not sure what year the tow rig is that Hectors team used. On the "Remembering Hector Urias" thread, there is a video that Greg posted on page 7, reply #91 that shows a good front shot of the truck. If you have one or know where I can buy one like that, I would be very appreciative. If I can't find one just like that, I will take anything that is close. The focus will be mostly on the car itself.

Thanks
Rich

Re: The Hector project

This is the closest i found it is even lowered with wheels ! Its about 38.00

I would buy this one and raise it to fit the trailer height and paint it solid black and let it ride.

Joe, that is very cool. I am thinking that is the one. Not the same year, but it will work. Thanks for posting it.

Re: The Hector project

I am going to attemp to recycle a hand made Pro Stock frame, from a different model. I built this frame many years ago, using the cover and article from Adam Wiks race car. That is all just regular plastic round stock, that was cut and heated to make the bends. I hope Hector and crew do not mind the recycle of old parts for this build. I was able to save just the 1 peice front end from the other model. It will get painted to match and put with the rig as a spare.

Re: The Hector project

The tow vehicle belonged to Ray Ramos at the time and it now belongs to Trevion(Brown PM car). If you want get more info on the truck. It's a Black crew cab bagged on rims. Very clean truck.
Cool project BTW. Hector would be honored
